2022 Defender orders taking place now
#91
There are obvious cons of course for the 90 variant e.g. backseat passengers having to shuffle the front seat forward all the time and that raised bar across the back bootspace is a bit off-putting. However if anyone like me is out here really stretching a budget to get into one of these in the first place the 5k difference in price isn't a bad start, also the shorter wheelbase IMO looks a bit more athletic and if you're essentially locked into the P300 engine anyway on budget then it should (in theory) be more suitable for this presumably lighter weight variant. The demand might not be very strong for the 90 but from my understanding it hasn't been a demand issue, they can't lay hands on one, at least at my dealer, this dealer is in new york state by the way, not sure about other states / countries. I'll be honest the vehicle is on my top five potential leases this year but the direction this has taken over the past few months seems to be quickly veering off into the bizarre, I can't see myself ordering anything for 2023, something is seriously going on here with supply more so maybe than we even thought or they want to reduce the number of engines they need to build before the 2025 cutoff by drawing a line through an entire model year? I dunno...

I've just been going by 2021 Defender S because the base below that doesn't even have a rear armrest so it could be a bit different on the price point, but both models 90 / 110 s in the builder I believe it starts out about 5k difference, maybe there's a way to narrow that gap.

I was told (in the email I received from the sales rep) that they're taking 2023 model year orders now for delivery starting this summer. He said the order guide was attached but there was no attachment. I replied back so I'll see if he sends that along today because on the website builder I can't even configure a 2022 yet, let alone a 2023. I told him I'd have to at least test drive a 110 p300 before ordering a 90 p300.

It may well depend on your dealers previously committed allocations as well -- once they actually get the order to LR it still looks to be 2 months to build, 2 months to delivery typically. You may be able to find an 'on the lot' one if you're not as picky as some of us...
