2022 Defender orders taking place now
#171
Here's how Car and Driver worded it in February: "The 2022 Land Rover Defender starts at $49,050 for the base two-door 90, an increase of $1600, and $51,850 for the base four-door 110. The standard two-door Defender 90's price is up $1600, but the four-door 110's base price remains the same."
So does the 2022 90 have anything new now standard?

My dealer said both heated seats ($500 option on 2021) and wireless charging ($??? option on 2021) are now standard for 2022. So the price hike doesn't exactly coincide with $1,600 in standard equipment.

Have you driven a hybrid RR or RRS? The hybrid system is still too unrefined. The current P400 setup has lots of grunt, and moves the Defender quite nicely. I would wait to see if they double the battery size at least as BMW did in the X5. Otherwise, you'll get maybe 10 miles on electric... if lucky!
As for 2022's, every hard goods industry is moving forward to 2022 already as supply chains are massively screwed up making 2021 almost impossible to predict. The hope is that by pushing out deliveries, that will give the various suppliers in the chain time to catch up and/or new sources subbed. We'll have to wait and see how that plan works!

Please forgive for these ramblings! Next week, by MY22 D110 SE build gets "locked in" with my "Last Date for Spec Change" being 4/14/21. My current build is Santorini Black with silver highlights and silver wheels and body color roof.
This will be a daily driver for many years to come. I am replacing a 2013 LR4 HSE in black which I've loved (passing down to my son)! The question of color choice is driving me crazy! I waver daily and dredge through the internet for examples and love much of what I see. Traditional Defenders in all black seem to be a Bond thing and as one poster on the FB group put it all black looking like a "drug dealer". I plan to outfit it (like my LR4) with roof rack, ladder and other accouterments! I absolutely love the contrast of white and silver where you can clearly see the clean lines of all the parts and accessories. But in my family the white cars have generally been what my girls drive. . I even dig the darker grey options, but since I plan to keep the vehicle for a long time, they seem a little trendy to me.
I know this is such a matter of opinion and I'm sorry to even pose the question, but just thought I'd ask the more experienced what colors seem to stand the test of time.

I would not worry about trendy, I would focus on what makes you really enjoy looking at the vehicle every day.
Honestly I have not seen a color on a defender that didnt look nice. I wish they had a dark green available. Carpathian Grey and Silicon Silver are my top two. I saw a black one last time I was at the dealership and I thought it looked very slick.
