From what I can tell, the XS has limited options available for people who hate looking through all the options. Did you notice anything else about the XS?

These are the items I noticed:

First, here’s what’s not available for XS:
  • No HUD option
  • No rear recovery eyes
  • No dual-color interior seating choices
  • No lighter oyster morzine headlining option (only ebony)
  • No wood trim options
  • X-D HSE has Premium Upgrade Interior Pack listed as standard (whatever that is), but XS does not
  • X-D HSE has Driver Assist Pack listed as standard, but XS does not
  • No X-Dynamic Badge
Standard XS options that are $$ extras on the X-Dynamics:
  • Three-zone Climate Control with Rear Cooling Assist
  • Air Quality Sensor
  • Cabin Air Ionization with PM2.5 Filter
  • Clearsight mirror
  • 20" Style 5095, 5 Split-spoke, Gloss Dark Grey with Contrast Diamond Turned Finish
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Front Center Console Refrigerator Compartment
Other differences:
  • XS includes the 'XS Pack' (whatever that is)
  • XS has Premium Cabin Lighting (as opposed to just “Cabin Lighting” on the X-Dynamics)
  • XS may have lighter silver bumpers and other exterior silver accents according to the rendered gallery images (X-D HSE accents are the darker silicon silver)
  • XS may have grey instead of red tail lights (according to the rendered gallery images, but not specifically listed)

  • Satin Silicon Silver Front and Rear Skid Pan
  • Satin Silicon Silver Grille Bar
  • Satin Silicon Silver Badging
Wow that is a nice side by side comparison. In the summary page on the builder it does not say what color the badging is, but it looks different for sure.

The SE Model has satin ceres silver.

Satin Ceres Silver Front and Rear Skid Pans
Satin Ceres Silver Grille Bar
Satin Ceres Silver Badging

Here is a picture of a silcon silver SE with the satin ceres silver. Looks kind the same to me as the configurator rendering.

Just went through the build sheet and it appears it was included on the 2021 110 SE. I can't find where there was any additional charge for it.

I just optioned out a 2022 Defender SE against my 2021 SE and the price increases floored me. Other than the panoramic roof which I really dislike so don't have, the options are virtually exact and the price differential is: 2021: $73,210.00 vs 2022: $77,520.00 or $4310.00 more for the 2022. Even adding the the sliding roof option at $1800.00 still makes the 2022 $2510.00 more than the 2021. And that's with COIL suspension instead of air suspension which the 2021 SE had as standard! I don't see air suspension available as an upgrade on the 2022's until you get to the Defender X starting at $86K! Is it an option you can add? And at what cost??

So glad I grabbed the two 2021's while I could.

Air suspension is a $1600 option.

So that takes another chunk out of the budget for a 22 vs a 21. You might think with COVID the prices might have remained stable...but when you can sell more than you can make....

So, air suspension is standard only on the X and the V8?

Yesterday I asked my dealer what the impact to the timeline would be if I wanted to change my X-Dynamic HSE order to an XS, and he said that he could submit an XS build for me to check, but that it would likely have to be a brand new order AND if I changed my mind I would not be able to return to the original HSE order.
Somewhat reluctantly, but mostly since some of the items I really preferred weren't available on the XS, I decided to just keep the HSE order in place with its July delivery (and irritatingly higher price). Hope I won't regret it!
Will be interesting to see the true differences between the XS and X-Dynamic HSE when the XS models actually hit the dealerships.

If it makes you feel better the increase in price was similar to change in inflation.....
