2022 Defender orders taking place now
#721
Just my opinion, but if you have figured that you want a new Defender and you don't need it right now, and you want to order it (aka spec out what you want and nothing you don't want), I'd recommend putting your order in now. There is no guarantee next year will be any better and actually, these supply chain issues seem likely to last for at least the next 12-18 months globally. Plus the longer LR fails to meet demand for the Defender, the longer the ordering queue will get.

I made an inquiry to a local dealer and their response was that "some lines are pushed back, but it was mainly the special edition lines". He stated that he just ordered an X-Dynamic last week that will arrive in November and any X-Dynamic build that I order would be estimated to arrive anywhere from November to February. That seemed a bit wide in the estimated build/delivery.
I've never ordered a vehicle before, always purchased what was on the lot, so kind of excited to try it but I might just hold off till next year before pursuing a new build.

I found the spot where the lights go out is the upper tail light. I tried all the other points and nothing, but when an LED light as small as 550 lumens is placed in close proximity to the upper tail lights, they go off. Also found you have to get very close for that to occur, but high beams from another vehicle can cause the same, albeit they were also LED high beams. I presume all North American Spec Defenders will eventually be recalled for this issue.

Pretty much yeah. It seems likely that JLR itself doesn't know when it'll be able to resume Defender production.

Spoke to my local dealer today about ordering a 110XS. They said they already had one arriving in November and that I could still customize it. They did not mention anything about the plant shut down. Is it possible that they don’t know? Are they just trying to get me to fork over 5k with no real idea of when it will arrive?
