2023 Defender options cancelled by dealer
I currently have a First Edition D90 with the Jump Seat and Clearsight really need it for when the jump seat is up. The clearsight actually hides a car when it is directly behind you close to the bumper so using it for backing up is really bad. Yes on the highway the clearsight can be very useful but I must admit I never use it and prefer to have more natural views checking all my mirrors and looking directly to the blindspots. The offroad cameras are very very helpful for offroading and almost like cheating on the trails. I think that Clearsight is def something I would spec if easily available. The D90 is a great vehicle but now that I have a 1 inch lift om 33" the truck is a bit top heavy and the dive on heavy brakes is a bit disconcerning. The 110 has no such dive due to the longer wheelbase. Although the shorter wheelbase does make some trails easier, Black Bear Pass comes to mind, the 110 can still very easily make the switchbacks just with a few more point turns. With the offroad cameras this is no problem even without a spotter. I am converting to the 110 and losing the jumpseat and the clearsight and the larger screen but really feel like its an easy switch. I like the smaller screen, and get a refrigerator in the console so hey lose some thing and gain some others. I do like the Clearsight but don't feel like waiting what may be 6 month or even another year for the privilege.
I was also told yesterday that our build will not have the Clearsight , the 11.4" touch screen or the 12.3" interactive driver display (that's being replaced with analog. Not cool.)
No price change except $450 for no Clearsight.
Ordered in October, accepted last week, build in April with antic. delivery date July 20.
Do those without ClearSight find the spare tire to be a nuisance to see around without the Clearsight? Just curious!

I just got a peek at a report that is available to the dealers that lays out what standard and optional features are being cut (hidden) or restricted to higher trim levels due to shortages. In general, the higher the trim, the more confidence that you will get what you were expecting. The report also includes options that are causing delays. Unfortunately its a moving target. IDD, HUD, Clearsight, 11.4" touchscreen, Jump Seat were all listed as "HIDDEN" and "Std on X, V8". I was also told that the web site is intended to follow these rules, but lags behind on updates. The part that is a mystery (to me) is that we are getting build sheets that list some of these removed items (even at lower trim levels). Will we get them? Maybe they have targeted highly optioned builds in some cases?

Ok, I was tired of trying to figure out how to source ClearSight after the purchase and JLR dropped it. I don't have the insider track that @Mark1107 has to get something recoded either. My estimate the replacement fin, mirror, and harness (yes, contrary to earlier hubris about running my own wires you need a fiber harness - actually two of them) would cost over $2k. That hurts, but what really hurts is that you have to pull the entire headliner to access the fin & route the fiber lines. So, rather than continue to be bitter about the entire thing - I always red-neck engineer a plan B. After seeing someone with a lanmodo on his dash, I had a eureka moment. This is what he had and he was using it for a "poor man's" night vision on his dash:

What I realized, was why not just route my own. So I searched around and figured, what the hey. I'll experiment with a couple hundred bucks and went with this. It even solves my dashcam problem:
I wired it up today to see how it works. I already have a PowerfulUk harness (https://www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles/...cessories.html) and will wire it in when I hide the wires if the thing works for me. So far I'm a partial yes.
During the day, it works perfectly. It doesn't look bad at all. The dashcam works great. Love the features on the thing. The main issue I have is that the night time visibility sucks. I really need to check out a ClearSight to see if it does the same thing. It turns black & white and headlights are too much glare. At that time, I just turn it off. It has the same on/off that ClearSight does. Stay tuned for more pics and a better summary once I use it for a few weeks. It will either be $200 to educate the collective community or may be a fair Plan B if you get screwed out of the ClearSight and still would like to have it or use it.

Clearsight mirror is not for backing up.
The back up camera is for backing up.
Clearsight mirror doesn't jitter and provides great perspective of the traffic condition behind.
I have been using clear sight exclusively since August last year and it's a feature that is essential in my opinion.

My wife loves the Clearsight and uses it all the time. I have a little bit of a harder time adjusting my eyes back to the road ahead so I tend not to use it as much. Overall I’m very glad we have it.
