Activity Key on a 2020 Defender

I am not sure about keys being disabled if you leave them in the car. In my own test (leave fob on driver seat, window open. Lock car with the Activity Key. Leave activity key in the house and out of range. Walk back to the car, grab fob on driver seat and open doors and start engine), it didn't appear to disable it. Regardless, the beauty of the new Activity Key is that you don't need to take the fob with you. The wristwatch replaces the fob completely. Once you get used to that, it's really quite convenient. Only thing is, when you valet the car, you need to take the watch off your wrist and hand it to the attendant, who looks at you funny.
Here's my usual routine. After work, I head out for a run. My smart key is clipped to my backpack, which I hide in the cargo area. Grab the AK out of my backpack, strap it on, lock the vehicle and go for my workout. Upon return to the vehicle, I unlock it with the AK, start the engine and head home. Stash the AK inside my backpack for tomorrow. I park inside the garage, so no need to lock the car, I take my backpack inside the house. If I head back out to the car (without the AK), the smart key fob will still lock and unlock the door but will not start the engine. A warning message appears on the dash saying that “the smart key is deactivated, refer to the handbook”. So if I go get the AK, place the smart key inside the vehicle, and from outside lock and unlock the car, the smart key remains de-activated. I have tried to lock/unlock the car multiple times with the activity key outside/inside and the key fob inside/outside but the smart key remains deactivated when it comes to starting the engine.
So far, the only way I've been able to re-activate the smart key fob is to have the AK and the smart key inside the vehicle at the same time and proceed to start the engine. The smart key appears to re-activate after this, allowing me to use the vehicle without the AK. I'm not sure why the smart key doesn't re-activate upon my return from the run. Sorry, I sound really confusing. I need to play with it more to come up with a clear "work flow".
Therefore my question, has anyone worked out the proper, clear procedure for “reactivating the smart key“?

That's so odd. I tried it again tonight to make sure I wasn't mistaken before, and my fob is not deactivated if I leave it in the car and lock the doors with the AK. I can grab it through an open window (simulating a thief smashing it), unlock the doors, start the engine and drive away even after storing the AK well out of range in my house. That;s why I keep recommending that you leave your fobs at home if you take the AK with you.
I'll take a short video tomorrow of the way I test mine, curious to see if it behaves differently. Perhaps it's a model year thing? Mine is a 2020.

According to my Dealer and JLR you need Keyless entry from factory AND the KVM for the activity band to deactivate the traditional key fob. I noticed in the video you don't have keyless entry is that the issue?

Yup. It's on the wrong side of the handle - like everyone else's - but ithe keyless button is there, trust me... You can sort-of see it at 0:29. I don't believe an Activity Key could be programmed without the KVM.
