Do you have a multimeter to see what the DC voltage out of those two posts is, without and with the charger connected? Have you tried jump starting it yet? It almost looks like bad grounding somewhere.

I do have one, but haven't tried. Even with the charger off, the lights on the fenders are one. Turned the switch to off several times thinking it would trigger a change or something. I did not try to jump it, we had errands today and called on the way home. He'll be here just about as we aee.

Tow truck will be here at 3. The dealership is close, hopefully can look at it today. If not, tomorrow. We'll see what happens.

Thanks to all for suggestions.

Tow truck picked it up. The driver did get it to jump off, and out of the garage. Took a while for it to run enough to drive out. Put the windows down, and then they wouldn't go back up, while it was running. Dealership has it, we'll see what they say tomorrow hopefully.

I don't understand what happened, hopefully get it figured out soon. Had it about 6 months, 5k miles. No issues prior to this.
I bet on a flawed from the factory AGM battery. Or maybe some charging control module electronic which is failed?

The good news is both are easy to find and correct.

Got the vehicle back yesterday. Tech said that it was a "volt issue", and they replaced the battery. Little worrisome honestly, less than 6k miles. Drove it the day before with no issues, and has not had any other than that. Hopefully doesn't do it again.

The service was top notch, which made it much less stressful. Used the app to get them to tow it to the dealership. There was good communication between their service department and us, and when all done they drove it back out to our house for us. Very, very nice. The kind of service that would make me want to buy from them again.

Not related to the issue, but a few notes. Using the app to get a tow, we had to call. The person sounded like they were doing dishes, had a kid in the background,. and their phone rang with that annoying Apple default ring tone. Pandemic, cheaper to work from home, etc. Got it. I can see some people having a problem with it and it not looking (sounding) professional. I don't know if all that background stuff was the problem, but she could also just not get our address. Saying it several time and then spelling it took forever. She couldn't understand "Turkey", kept putting "Purkey"... got to be annoying. Having to repeat things over and over again. That being said, she was very nice and ended up working out.

Having to re-save every setting also took forever. Every favorite, every setting, etc. Her profile was there, but no settings saved. I wish auto makers would allow for a cloud based save system, or perhaps on the app. So when and if this happened, one can simply upload their setting and it go back to how it was before the battery went dead. People leave lights on, batteries die. Just like when getting a new phone now days, logging into your account and setting up it is easy. A new phone can feel like your old phone in a matter of minutes.

Yes, as expected. Following the rule of "replace the most likely failed item first".

These new electronic vehicles (post 2015 and becoming more intense with each increase in computerization) are ever so heavily dependent on their AGM batteries to remain within a tight band of voltage supplied --- and it seems some of the recent batteries from the factory are not robust enough? (Pandemic production issue?).

Part of our new, computerized world. An interesting time to be on the planet.

Do let us know if the problem comes back. Interesing.

Enjoy!

All .... here is the explanation of a "GR8" test. Interesting. Apparently these new fangled batteries in our modern vehicles fail so often, one needs to run a standard test and turn in the test strip to have General Motors reimburse the dealer.

Plus, it seems testing the AGM battery is a mandatory part of prepping the car for sale --- at least within GM.

https://gm-techlink.com/?p=13933

It seems the battery manufacturers are trying to keep up, trying to put more energy in the same volume in order to power our new computerized vehicles. There is something called a "Spiral AGM", in addition to an AGM ...

Per Google:

There's also Spiral Cell Absorbed Glass Mat (or AGM) and Flat Plate AGM lead-acid batteries. A spiral cell battery layers the plates in a spiral layout, and the lead used is 99.99 percent pure, which leads to greater deep cycling over the life of the battery.

Found this elsewhere... but after getting it back from the battery issue this has happened twice in two days. Wife is going to take it by there tomorrow and see what they say. This message never came up before, maybe related maybe not.
