24 i6 D90 - I don't mean auto stop/start. If I get out of it while it's running, leaving the key in it, it _turns off_. It's done this twice to me now (only 150 miles on it). This most recent time it decided to forget all the memory seating info and jack the seat as far up and forward as it can.

Is this a known issue?

 

It's intended. If the driver unbuckles and opens their door, the car goes off. I think it's because if the car is on stop/start and you pull over, you might think the car is off and when you get out and take foot off the brake the engine will start up

It's a bit hard to predict exactly when it does it. The order of seatbelt and door opening seems to matter

 

Oh - and the seat and steering column move to make it easier to get in and out. There is a **** I think on the side of the steering column. If you turn it away from auto, that turns that feature off and the seat won't move. It's really not needed in the defender (maybe in a low slung sports car..)

 

Disable the "Auto Stop" function and it should continue to idle when you exit, I'm not sure for exactly how long (15 minutes?) but enough time enough to grab mail out of box or open a gate. Just remember you won't be able to lock the vehicle and leave it running. I programmed my programable diamond steering wheel button to toggle Auto Start/Stop, so it's quick. I assume if you used a GAP Tool to disable Auto Stop/Start you'd be set until the standard shut down time comes around.

 

I don't think that stops it. I turn off auto stop start on mine and it still shuts off when it thinks you are parking and getting out of the car.

 

Well, i love that feature. Makes us long inseam folks much easier to get in an out.
