Buying a Defender without a markup?
Ray Catena New Jersey was a 1K deposit no markup FYI. Can recommend Cassidy Coulombe as she kept me updated/put up
with all the changes I requested

I Live in South Florida. today I stopped by Miami dealer at coral gables. biggest selection in S. FLA. They all marking up at least 10k on new defender sitting at lot. I said no thank you. The other really REALLY annoying thing is that they are not allowed to sell outside their market. Found the 110 i wanted in Jacksonville but they would not sell to me bc I dont live there. WTF? Never heard such a thing and I am re evaluating this LAND ROVER first purchase....
The first dealer I talked to a week ago said $10k markup on in stock and $10k (but he could get me $5k) on an order once I sent him my build.
I sent him my build and told him to ask for MSRP and he hasn't even responded. Second dealer started at $5k for order, and ended up at MSRP and we all agreed to no add-ons.
The market is definitely softening in this and other high- demand vehicles. The automotive supply chain disruptions aren't over but they're less frequent. Market power is starting to shift back in the direction of buyers, but you need to be willing to put in some effort to get MSRP or better.

I'm sure results will vary according to market area. I've heard of some getting MSRP in LA/OC area but only because customer was a repeat customer of that specific dealer with a history of 3-5 Rover purchases.
It is standard JLR practice to not allow dealers to sell outside of their markets. Very frustrating to buyers, IMO---not just in terms of pricing, but more in terms of availability. I didn't buy a Velar a few years ago because my dealer had none that met my specs and other dealers wouldn't sell to me. I bought a Macan. Loved it!
WRT paying over MSRP, it seems to still be the case in the US anyway that anything in stock is typically over MSRP bur orders are generally at MSRP.

I ordered a 90 S 9/24/2022 with $2500 Down @ MSRP and no add ons from Norwood MA JLR. Was told Spring delivery. 3 plus months still in holding pool waiting for allocation. Being told the P300 is on constraint and probably summer now.
They can put me in SE but I dont want the Mild Hybrid engine and willing to wait, if they can get it built.
