If anyone disagrees with me, please provide a link to *enacted* legislation that impacts production or refining capacity in the US - because I'm open to the possibility there may be something I have missed in the past 18 months.

(and please don't say KeystoneXL which would have taken 10-15 years to build and wouldn't impact oil availability until mid to late 2030s)

But I guess none of us come here to talk politics (or the international economics of oil discovery, exploration, extraction, distribution, and refining) so I will be quiet now
Ahh, the voice of reason was posted on 5/19, when I provided this thread with the exact same article. Just saying and joking but not joking because I posted it. Also, the Keystone at full capacity would produce 830k barrels of oil a day. But we export 8.63 million a day and import 8.47 million making the US the largest producer of petroleum.

I think the problem is that some anti-EV people use fake or made up fact to try and discredit the EV movement. Just say you don't like them, that's enough. No need to fake justify why.

Isn't that better suited to the litterbox over at Twitter?

I am SOOOO glad I am not an administrator of any Forum or Facebook feed. It's when the threads get to this point that I would just close them and I'm sure that would be negative to both my personal stress levels & members' opinions of my sanity (if it can get more damaged). There's only two members on my blocked list. Just don't need that in my life. I'm here to enjoy things and share in Defender lore & learning. And randomly BS like I'm in a pub. See, there's the problem. I have a hard time differentiating my BS and other's BS! But when it starts entering today's divisive politics, time for me to settle up the bar tab. Is there a way to just block threads? I'm sure the right answer is just to quit going to that thread, but then I'd have to talk about my age and how easily I forget stuff...

(FWIW - This is not a statement to the previous post (or couple posts), it's just the general spin to politics over the last while).

My bad, props go to you. I had read the article you posted and bookmarked it to share with friends and family who get their news from questionable sources like Facebook, Twitter, OAN, etc. And since I read and save so many articles each day, I actually forgot I read it HERE. But regardless, I got tired of people pointing the finger a a single person responsible for gas prices when it is much broader than that, just like a president is not responsible for global inflation. Good reading for EVERYONE.

I'm guessing you missed the coda to my comment.

Good luck with your straw men, I've no interest in derailing this thread any more.

I get it. And no offense meant to the followers of the thread. And your reasons are precisely why I have never, and never will, visit or be a member of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or any social media, and proud of it. The responses were not meant to be political, merely keeping up with direction of the thread which started with gas prices, then went to EV over fuel advantages/disadvantages and bent toward government intervention and control, or lack of control, over fuel prices. Once the misinformation and finger pointing started, I felt compelled to furnish a global picture of why this is happening. I’ll end this here. Drive on. Safely.

I decided to get an economy vehicle as well instead of selling one of my trucks so I bought a Harley. It was the right move 50 mpg and fun as hell.

Lets leave the politics at the door and enjoy the trucks that brought us here
