Wanted to see if this has happened to anyone else.
Just received our new MY22 Defender a couple of weeks ago and was driving down the highway today and the colored square panel flew off the car.
Looks like these are only held on by adhesive strips.
Bahahaha! Damn. Welcome the hard way. Go ahead and get used to things not working on any new JLR. There is good news though, You came to the right place for info and fun!
lucky 8 makes a delete which is basically a couple black plastic dots to cover those holes and a new emblem. suprised it came off. took some elbow grease to get mine off

Does anyone like this? I dont understand the appeal personally
My initial reaction was negative, but I've come to like it. It is unique, which suits me and it does distinguish it as a Defender and in a way breaks up the huge horizontal panel of glass.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Chief Design Officer, describes the feature “[The Defender’s] horizontal emphasis continues with the squared off wheel arches,” he says, “and this distinctive floating pillar, which is positioned over the rear wheel to reinforce that planted look.”

I was very critical (disparagingly so) of the lucky 8 square delete. Perhaps no longer.
I'm with @TheMoke . Thought of it more harshly than before. I'd love a version without the need for the black circles to cover the holes, but I've now entered the "either way" phase of acceptance.
