Default Coolant leak fixed itself?

Hey guys,

Just recently picked up a 2021 from Carvana(worst experience with any large purchase I've ever had - do not use them....too many opportunities for it to go bad)

It has 15300 miles, drove it away with no issues, about 30 minutes in a stopped somewhere and smelled coolant, didnt occur to me it would be this fairly new vehicle, so didnt bother investigating. Drove for another hour and low coolant level warning sign came on, after a bit I filled it coolant and the coolant warning hasnt come back on in 400 miles since.

I could still smell coolant the next following day - but I haven't smelled it in the past 2 days at all. Doesn't seem to be leaking anymore, but that also doesn't make sense to me.

Just curious if this has occurred with anyone else.

Been enjoying everyone's post - thanks everyone.

Possible it was over filled and leaked out?

When I originally opened the hood, the coolant tank was at "MIN" level, so I filled it up and maybe went 1/4 inch over the "MAX" line. But it was smelling like coolant before filling it up over the line

I had a similar slow leak. Check the small black clips that connect the lines to your intercoolers. The stock clips are a little flimsy. One of mine came loose. I replaced with stronger clips and no issues since.

Great - thanks for this insight I'll have them inspect this when I'm at the shop today

I bought my 2022 Defender 90 through Carvana about 6 months ago and it was one of the easiest and best car buying experiences I’ve ever had. A couple small issues and they took care of them quickly and without pushback.
