Agree. Had my Defender windshield (110, heated windshield, with sunroof) crack on a below freezing night driving to Taos with no other cars on the road - so hard to imagine it would be a rock strike.

However, the 2020+ Defender body rigidity appears to be 29,000 Nm/degree, which would be an impressive number for a sports car - let alone a 4WD offroad hauler. For reference, it's nearly identical to a 2018 Porsche 911 for stiffness.

Wow very impressive, no doubt a result of the unibody construction (amongst other things).

Well, it has been 7 months since I applied the ShatterX goop .... and I have not suffered another cracked windshield. This certainly does not scientifically confirm causation, but rather suggests I should continue the experiment.

So, I just reordered more goop -- and even agreed to be upsold by their "buy 3 get 1 free" deal (at $35 USD per application). I recall (?) they recommended recoating every 6 months ... so I will apply the new goop as soon as it arrives !

Enjoy !!

I had shatterx on my last windshield and it got two chips and then cracked after a third rock hit. I don’t think it made a hoots worth of difference except for taking a bit of my money. Not bothering with it again.

Do they offer any sort of warranty or guarantee?

Anyone have luck with PPF? In the 6000 KMs I've driven my '23 I've had more chips and cracks in this windshield than in my previous 20 years of driving (4 years in Velars too). It's absolutely crazy how badly it chips when a rock hits it. As soon as a rock hits, it's chipping and/or cracking.

A thicker version of PPF is used on headlight lenses but I’ve never heard of PPF for windshields. Generally any kind of film that goes on a windshield is applied on the inside of the glass.

Shatterx is a joke. No warranty and it doesn’t make any difference. There is windshield ppf available but after looking into it, I didn’t think it was worth it. Designed to last only a year, lots of reports of streaking from wiper blades, delaminating, and weathering. Expensive to the point where it doesn’t make sense if your glass deductible is cheap. Not legal in all places.
