Defect in rear exterior doors paint chipping
#121
I put clear PPF on my Defender X pretty quickly after purchase, and the clear PPF is thrashed with little divots in these areas just in front of the rear wheel wells after around 20K miles of ownership. I do a good bit of offroading but I'm convinced this is from highway driving and not the offroad trips. Or maybe both... but... I've noticed it after long road trips, not after my offroad adventures.
I'm kind of curious what it would look like if I removed the PPF -- if did the PPF save the paint, or not? I think some of the bigger divots may have gone through thru the PPF.
PS -- I have the smaller LR mudflaps as well, which don't seem to help much for this.

As someone who is picking up a new 110 tomorrow, I think ppf wrapping looks to be somewhat essential. I have a set of extended fenders that I need to install but the lower panels have come in glossy and the fenders are matte. And now I'm second guessing due to the mismatch. if I get the ppf wrapped before I install the fenders would the double sided tape still adhere to the ppf or should I install then get the wrap done?

OEM Land Rover side steps (you can get much cheaper alternatives that look the same so would provide the same protection from stone chips)
Top picture is OE
Lower picture is aftermarket (1/5 the price!!)
