On the Macan, the suction cups would eventually let loose. This mounting point is out of the way and pretty much out of sight and doesn't fall down. The Macan wasn't as wide and the windscreen angled back more, so I mounted it on the passenger side. With the Defender, I had to mount the V1 on the driver side. Only downside is you can't put the visor past 180 degrees down unless you unhook the right side but that hasn't been an issue so far.
