I've seen the part itself for sale on eBay and other sites. Parted from totalled Defenders. It has never really been answered if it just pops in and works but it is highly integrated into other systems and it stores trouble codes for sure.

Rumor is it is coded to the VIN and might require some dealer programming.

A few diagrams like this in the service manual show how it's tied in.

If anyone feels like digging, the part is called "IPC" if you search the manual. 248 mentions and it gets fairly technical.

The digital dash is plug and play. If you want 100% confirmation reach out LR Retrofits in the UK. They are on whatsapp. Its on ebay at an attractive price. If you want one, at that ebay price its a steal. The only one in the world.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Every other option is there, and the Defender is really amazing. I ordered in August expecting Jan or Feb. delivery and was surprised when my sales consultant said "November 13".

I like the idea of thinking 'Heritage Edition" I could just re-sell this to the 100 or so folks he has on a waiting list and order a new one. . . (hahahahah)

Did they offer to refund the deposit to anyone? Not me.
How did you make out on with the display? We have a 23' Disco 5 on order and they sent us a build with the Analog Display. I said I wasn't okay with this, they said they can't guarantee and heard nothing more. Scheduled for a March/April 22' delivery.

Yeah I noticed seeing some S models with the half analog guages on the Land Rover U.S. Inventory site. Also, it's on the configurator for '23's. I have a '22 90 s myself. If your orders are pushed back through the 1st of January should probably just have them switched over to '23 MY. Can no longer even order '22's for like 2 months now.

Yea I just did some digging for the first time in a few days on the LR website and they FINALLY updated their website with 23' options. They had updated the prices back on 11/1. They now give you an option on Disco 5 R-Dynamic for Analog or Digital. Digital costs nothing extra, so not sure what that is all about.

Snapped a screen shot of both for comparison, the Analog screen isn't terrible but I'd still highly prefer the digital for the price of the car. If my $40,000 Grand Cherokee can have a full digital than the $75,000 Land Rover should as well.

Default Arrived

Picked up 22 X-Dynamic with IDD, HUD, 11.4” screen. According to the dealer, this one is a unicorn. Upgraded 3.0 Privi pro has Apple wireless carplay and works very well. Now keeping fingers crossed that nothing craps out…

My wife got T boned in her Disco by a very pretty but dumb as a goat blond in a Jag convertible (which they had just got back from the dealer from repairing another collision). So the dealer was able to fix everything but...the rear axel case. This was apparently on inter-galactic back order. In fact it took a year and we ended up accepting a used one. Now Land Rover was quite nice about the whole thing. They gave us a new loaner to drive every 30 days for the entire year.

My Defender 90 will be here someday, the Tarot cards say 21 January, but I doubt that. I am willing to wait the Range Rover is still scooting along nicely. In fact, since the Defender is supposedly coming soon, I am kind of thrashing the RR more than normal. That car has had almost nothing go wrong with it aside from a thermostat ($23) and the level sensor ($22). Now the heater resistor got moody, but all I had to do was unplug it and plug it in again. Now I can only hope the Defender will mimic its reliability and keep in line with its ancestors I have had in the last century. Now they where not trouble free, but you could more or less fix them with a hammer. If you wanted parts you had to get them from Atlantic British in their early form (a mimeographed, stapled 8 page list). If they didn't have them, well your boned. There was no other real parts source. When I would get to UK (I was a military pilot) I would scour breaking yards for parts. I loved it, the British junk yard guys wore lab coats and a tie.
