I don't understand what you are trying to do. You basically want to power a 12V DC compressor by plugging it into a 120V AC outlet? That's not gonna work, regardless of amperage or what you replace the battery clamps with. I am no electrician, but DC and AC currents don't mix and something is bound to fry without a converter / inverter.

It's your call, but it takes maybe 30 seconds to pop the hood open and connect the alligator clamps of a good 12V compressor (I have a Viair 400P, it's great) to the + and - remote battery terminals under there. It's even easier on the Defender than my previous Land Rovers, where in addition to lifting the hood you also needed to remove a plastic battery cover to get to those terminals.
