Engine coolant warning, took to dealer
Latest news... apparently it they think the main culprit was a head gasket that allowed a slow coolant leak into one of the cylinders which eventually caused the cylinder to fail. I cant see what it would be at 16k other than a defective gasket installed during the engine build, or the part was damaged during assembly. I never noticed any white smoke or other issues you would normally associated with a head gasket issue. Either way, looks like 3-4 months with a loaner.
I feel compelled to add, I used to be a regional service manager for GM early in the career, so I'm fairly well versed in warranty issues between factories and dealers and how many manufacturers can jerk you around when it comes time to warranty their products. I am very impressed with both Land Rover and the dealership in how they have handled this so far. I've had other luxury brands that will bend over backwards to try to run the clock on you for warranty issues or straight up deny them. I appreciate the decisiveness and speed with which this has moved so far.
