First image is going up Siskiyou summit, which is a 4000 ft mountain. Cruise set to a steady 70-75. (I wasn’t really giving the motor a workout or hammer down l). Maybe a 6% grade (?). Steep ish.
Second images a few minutes later, coming down the mountain.
2020 P400 110 X 19k miles w winch and bulbar. Just me and backpack in the car (not heavily loaded).
if this were my disco, I’d be pulled over worried I’d already begun cooking a head gasket.

obviously I am not sure what you're experiencing but... my 2020 X started giving me warnings that I was overheating and to stop driving immediately! I was on a road trip and pulled over... opened the hood and didn't seem to be hot or steaming or anything like that... got back on the highway and 5-10 minutes later it did it again. Anyway, long story short I made it into LR dealer and had it checked out. Turned out it was a software issue. But they also told me there is a known sensor issue as well... Either way engine was not not actually overheating. So worth looking into... good luck!
I’ve dealt with high water temps a bit, from a 12-cylinder E Type to an MG midget. I keep in mind that at sea level water boils at 212 degrees F…and yes, I know we all know that. And I know you use a coolant, not water.
4,000 feet does lower the boiling temp (of water) to about 204 degrees, so 230 seems high.
Since the main radiator grill is getting close to fully open but isn’t, you may want to check your cooling system and aux radiators and you probably plan to. I wonder 1) why this reading is the same once the CHT went down and 2) what it is under more normal conditions.
Not an expert but should CHT be the same or close to the water temperature? I would think CHT is normally higher?
Curious as to what the dash water temperature icon was showing. I’ve read the water temp should be between 195-220 degrees F for gasoline ICEs and the gauge indicator is usually in the middle.
The desired reading of 185 degrees seems low to me, but…
On a recent 3-hour trip I noticed for the first time my 2022 110 P400 gauge was at times a bit below the middle mark where it has always been before. I was at a max altitude of about 2800 feet and it was chilly out but have never seen it below the middle mark. It did go back to the middle. I assumed the aux radiators had come on, then off.
Also have to ask; the readouts you posted are from an OBD Canbus reader? Which one. I keep thinking I need/want one.
