I have a 2014 Full Size Range Rover with Supercharged 5.0 Engine with 134,000 miles on the clock. I purchased it 2 years ago for $30,000 with 101,000 on the clock. Two months ago I was driving on I95 and all of the sudden the truck lurched like I ran over something and the engine just died and I coasted to the side of the Road. I had it towed and the Mechanic Shop says that the Engine is Blown. No Compression. The truck ran hot because I could hear and smell it when I pulled to the shoulder, but the Temp gauge NEVER moved off of Normal. I was told that this is a common problem in these Vehicles. I am looking for anyone that had this happen. I got a price of $12,000 for a Reman Engine from California, then about $5,000 for the Install. I was offered $9,000 from the Range Rover Parts place in Tampa. So, Repower at a cost of approx $18,000, sell it for parts, or take my time and try to find a used engine. Thoughts?????
Kind of same thing happened to me here in tx. I have a 2015 Range Rover supercharged and it began leaking antifreeze. i took it to Austin Rover works. It needed a new water pump, after the installation and the master mechanic test drove it he said it didn't feel right. They did a block test on the motor and i was told it changed color almost instantly indicating a "Superbad blown head gasket". I was told around 10 for the job, heads would almost defiantly need machining and new timing chain while they were at it. also wouldn't know if or how bad block was warped until they take off heads. was suggested i just get another motor. I was also told it would be 2k to take off heads just to check the block if i wanted to check the block first to see if would just do heads ,gaskets and chain or just swap another motor. i found Sharper Edge Engines LLC. out of Florida with a lot of upgrades to the motor. anyone heard of them?Sharper Edge Engines LLC offers,

That is the same outfit that I priced a replacement engine from. My Rover has over 130,000 miles so I have opted to sell it to Rover Parts in Tampa, FL. They offered me $9,000 with the blown engine, so I am going to do that and put the $9,000 towards the New 2014 Autobiography with 61,000 miles that I bought today for $57,000.
