Hi Guys,
We're a little late in reporting back to everyone - sorry. We had to clear up where we are going with this and, above all, try to provide as much info as possible on what has happened and where this will leave our products in the future.
Background
The changes Land Rover made to diagnostic access, JLR Secured Diagnostics, are due to a UN cybersecurity directive enacted into law in the EU and the UK: UNECE R155/R156. Most other automotive manufacturers around the world have implemented similar systems - and it's definitely in all our common interest.
Where we are
JLR has rolled Secured Diagnostics out in all world markets except for North America on MY26 vehicles. This means that the IIDTool is not fully compatible with MY 2026 vehicles in most world markets except for North America where it continues to function normally on even the newest vehicles.
We've applied to JLR to have the IIDTool become an authorized diagnostic system that will provide our users access to all functions again within the framework of Secured Diagnostics, but it will likely still take some time to complete this process - likely not in this calendar year.
Summary
To recap: for MY 2026 vehicles the IIDTool is not fully compatible (above all no CCF functions!) except for vehicles delivered in North America (USA and Canada) where the JLR Secured Diagnostics has not been implemented and the IIDTool G4 still functions as in the past. Vehicles MY 2025 or earlier are unaffected. Look for the IIDTool to become fully compatible with all JLR products once again in 2027.
I’ve had the GAPIID tool now for a couple of years. I have a 2024 V8 Carpathian that came pretty loaded, so I’m not unlocking any big features (ie Dynamic Mode, ACC, etc). That said, I still find the tool very worthwhile and fun to play with.
Upon first use, the tool created a backup file to be able to restore all of my original settings if need be. I have used that on a few occasions. It works as it should.
Afterwards, I go back in and program my changes again. Is there anyway to save those changes?
The GAP menu presents a SAVE/RESTORE option, however the only functionality available is a restore to the original configuration.
Web searches say that I ‘should’ be able to save my changes to a file, however I can’t locate that functionality.
Am I missing something, or is that feature not available?
I’m running version 4.2.6 Build 225 on my tool (updated a week or so ago).

Any time I make a change, I email the CCF to myself. It’s. Feature somewhere in the lower left area of the screen.

1- what are the odds you get this approval? Sounds far fetched when dealing with a major company but maybe it'll work out?
2-I love the GAP CCF controls !!!!! What chance is there that NAS 2026 finally get locked out, would you think it would end up including 2025's, everything before, or only the newly sold ones upon implementation? I might buy a 130 V8 2025 now if they are "safe" from the potential future lock-out.
3-I swear I had the feature disabled where the vehicle will instantly apply PARK brake if you open door during R/D or have door open and then select R or D. Mainly I sometimes use Reverse in my driveway with driver door open so I can precisely see where I am lining up the left rear tire and/or bumper corner. No amount of cameras can be as efficient and visually accurate as my own eyes seeing the actual object. This is useful off road sometimes too in certain situations.
Guess what, I've never fallen out into my own reverse path LOL - WTF?!
Anyway, I can't find how to "fix" this again after a CCF reset. I thought I had it figured out but apparently didn't save the item to my favorites in the GAP tool.
You know what would be "cool", to allow the ventilated seats to do radiant heat while NOT with fan blowing. The sound of the seat fans is often obnoxious, especially on warmest setting. Porsche has radiant only heat of you want it, or also fan ventilation, warm or cool.
Thanks.

1. Obviously the fat lady hasn't been out to sing yet, but LR is required to work with aftermarket diagnostic system suppliers (right to repair). And we've done projects for JLR Advanced Vehicle Development - we are not unknowns. We're optimistic.
2. Obviously it's only a SW implementation and JLR could easily make all vehicles with the required HW architecture (all L663) adhere to the new standards. But they haven't in all other world markets where Secured Diagnostics has already been implemented and we are optimistic that they won't.
3. I can't recall seeing that - but Patrick (support@GAP) is much more up to speed than I am. Try him.
As for the seats: CCF is not "freehand" programming. We are actually only giving access to settings that JLR has already programmed into their vehicles but not provided an interface for. If it's not in our CCF menu then there's a good chance that it doesn't exist.
I made a couple CCF changes, specifically the splash screen, enabling the key fob tailgate release, auto start stop memory, and WiFi hotspot, and now my adaptive cruise control isn’t working. I’ve got lights on for no front collision warning and no lane change assist. Anyone else running into this? MY2026 Defender 130 S, North America (USA). Fault codes
- Top off the battery with a trickle charger.
- Lock the car and let it go into sleep mode, might take 3 days - your JLR app will show you when the car is in sleep mode. A closed eye-lid icon will be in front of the car picture in the JLR app.
- Reboot the Pivi if after the sleep mode doesn't solve the issue.
All modules need to go to sleep so they can re-read the CCF from scratch.
