Good experience with our 2022 Defender after some software updates
Posting this in case it helps any new owners. We took delivery of our custom-ordered MY22 Defender on June 5. The car looks great and drives great. I'm coming from a 2019 Discovery Td6--which was also a very nice car, but the Defender is exactly what I wanted. A few issues popped up, but having been a multiple Land Rover owner, I knew to search Topix to see if any fixes were available.
1. Could not link InControl account to Pivi Pro. The online/app part worked fine. It was the in-car part. When Pivi Pro booted up, within a few seconds I would get an error at said "Unable to Connect (015)." Then, every time I put my credentials into the car on the touchscreen, it would immediately return a bogus error about the car not being registered with InControl. The reason I say "bogus" is because it would happen immediately upon pressing the Submit button, i.e., way too short a time to connect to a server, look up the car, etc. So, I found Topix article "SSM75340 - PIVI Pro InControl Account Will Not Link To Customer Profile 21MY onwards." It phrased the issue differently than I would have but was very close.
The dealer service department ran this procedure and everything connects, account is linked, I have Spotify, etc.
2. Wireless charger did not work with iPhone 12. it worked with an iPhone 11 but would not charge the iPhone 12. I found this article "SSM75427 - Wireless Device Charger Module (WDCM) Not Charging iPhone 12."
The dealer ran this procedure, and now the iPhone 12 charges.
3. Engine stop/start never stopped. The engine start/stop feature never stopped in two weeks, regardless of outside temperature, AC status, etc. So then I found this article "SSM75349 - L663 21MY Stop / start functionality Inoperative."
The dealer ran this procedure, and now start/stop works. It's not as aggressive as my wife's Range Rover with the same engine, but I verified it works.
4. Passenger seat heating/cooling didn't work. There was nothing about this.
The dealer found the seat control module was missing a "configuration file." They installed that and the seat works as designed now.
It's been a little bit of an inconvenience to go into service twice since 6/5, but the software updates seem to be doing the trick. I do think doing my research beforehand shortened the back-and-forth with the service team, so I hope this info helps.

The article says the service department connects to their diagnostic equipment and runs an update for the WDCM (wireless device charging module).
