Not to be weird, but the KN style filter looses it pass though air ability logarithmically, while paper filters are linear. So if you cannot clean it right after a dusty run, you vehicles efficiency goes to pot. You can take out a paper one and beat it against a rock to clear the major accumulation. We have a bunch of AD's against cleanable filters on aircraft and very strict rules on their use now, since they apparently killed a curling team's worth of pilots from these loading up issues. I unfortunately had one retrofitted to an aircraft I had before I bought it. I could not revert without purchasing a bunch of rather pricey hardware. So when I went into a dirty environment I had to keep a spare filter and toss the one installed after 3-4 days. You can really notice the performance degradation in an aircraft, especially at high surface altitude takeoffs.

Your milage may vary.
