Just got a recall notice for 2022

We had the recall done earlier this week. When dropping it off the service writer mentioned "we've done a few already and it's not too bad, shouldn't take too long".
It was long enough to go motorcycle shopping and get some quality Szechuan for lunch.
And probably half that time was them washing it and cleaning the interior so I'm not bitching.
You're not wrong, mostly, but I want to push back ever so slightly on the absolutism. My whole career has been in this industry, I put myself through college as a tech, worked it a bit after college before moving into the repair data side of the industry. At peak with Chilton I had dozens of techs working for me. Sure many had horror stories like you say. But some were really excellently skilled craftsman who gave a crap.
Granted in my own life I've too often caught a new shop in stupidity. In PA we had to get vehicles inspected each year and I'd take a vehicle to a highly recommended shop only to have the moron lie about something easily checked (brake pad condition). Then they'd backtrack saying "it didn't fail we were just recommending you replace it before it gets there..." Ugh.
Anyway happy to say we survived the recall.
I'll add they also performed an ABS module recall (reflash).

@WTFChuck - Anyone who thinks that all mechanics are brilliantly skilled perfectionists have never spent time in a shop. They are ALL heavy handed, because if something breaks - the customer pays for it. If it's jacked up - the customer pays for it. Many/most are very experienced and professionals. But NO ONE takes care of a car like their own car. As a buddy once told me: "No one cares for you, like you". Except, maybe your Mom.... (NO one else).

Totally agree with you, @Kev M . There were too many absolutes in there. After spending the last ~30 years working for various national consumer and commercial dealerships, frequently working with the service teams - I've seen a lot. And I'm jaded on the mythos of a Dealer's techs being wunderkids. Yeah, they have the proprietary tooling & tech, but that's the primary thing that differentiates them. I will back that many/most are professionals & skilled. The #1 thing a dealership struggles with is to get great service techs/mechanics and keep them. But the point was, they make mistakes on people's cars. My favorite story: this was a national dealership I worked at with ~100 stores at the time. A lady came in to have her Suburban's periodic maintenance taken care of. The store was right off the highway and a prime site with tons of business. It was a large, well run, busy shop. She takes her truck back and drives off. 5 minutes later, the store was called. She was going up the on ramp when one of the wheels fell off. The poor tech forgot to put the lug nuts back on. She was the CEO's wife! I'll ever forget that one. And no, it wasn't intentional.
