Default Key fob replacement

May have lost a key, still searching. I still have one key.

What is the best/cheapest way to replace a key fob? I do have the Gap IId tool.

Cheapest way would be getting an US spec (if you're in US) Activity key and program with GAP tool.
You can get a blank key from eBay and program tool (watch PowerfulUK YouTube video how to program) without cutting the actual physical metal key.

Was in your same situation with a previous Evoque. Thought I lost a key and not wanting to be down to one key, and the unenviable possibility of having NO key if I lost my remaining key, went to the dealer for a replacement. $850 lighter in the wallet, I found the key a few months later. When I traded it in on a different vehicle, I was not about to hand over such an expensive bonus, as I supplied two keys during the trade in. I still have that key. If my key will work with your Defender, I can offer it to you at a bargain price. I’m sure they use the same frequency, so if you research its viability, or inquire at the dealership, (although I’m not sure you will get an honest answer, as they want to sell you an expensive replacement), DM me and we can work out something to save you tons of cash.

The fob appears identical to my current fob for my Defender. Check it out, let me know if you’re interested.

Thanks so much for the responses and the offer!

actually found my key… decided to try to start the car with spare key in the house and got a message that the Smart Key was disabled, not missing. Searched and found it inside. Turns out if you leave a key inside and drive it with a second key, it disables the first key. So I found the key inside a jacket pocket in the back.

You have to use the remote app to lock/unlock the car to enable the disabled key. Thanks again!

That’s great news! Finding something you initially thought was lost is an uplifting feeling. Wish I had found mine before I handed a wad of cash to the dealer. My typical routine when traveling is to bury my spare key, wrapped in a signal blocking bag, deep in a recess of my vehicle. My thought process behind this is if I am flying out on a trip, and I were to lose my key somehow, arriving back to an airport at an awkward time and no key, I could simply call a locksmith to enter my vehicle, retrieve my key and head home. Without that key, I would need to call someone to drive 2+ hours to the airport with my spare. Problem was, first time I thought I lost the key, was because I forgot about stashing the key and when months later I was looking for my spare I forgot that I had buried it in the vehicle. Learning from that mistake, now I set a reminder on my phone for the day after my return to fetch the key and put it in its normal storage spot.
