Learning about UK Vehicle Registration (Number Plate) Format
i've been considering getting a vanity/custom euro plate for my Defender. I have one on My F80 M3 because I did euro delivery of the car and I kept the plate BMW gave me while the car was there and used for the first 3 weeks of its life/my ownership.
The Defender obviously wasn't given a UK plate. I was thinking of getting a plate made for it. The first 4 digits are based on its age and location it was registered.
For its age, I took ownership in May of 2023. So I know the number should be 23. Its the location code I'm trying to determine. I wanted to use JLR UK headquarters: Abbey Road, Whitley, Coventry, CV3 4LF, United Kingdom
Problem is, when I look up the Current DVLA Number Plate Area Codes, there are several that show up for "Coventry, " AC, DU, HP, KV, RW, VC, WK". - Current DVLA Number Plate Area Codes
The question is, how would I know which one is specific to the area in which the JLR UK headquarters resides? Is it just randomly assigned within all of Coventry?
Would love to learn more about it even if I decide not to do it.

Part of the problem is any of these could be applied to a car registered in the area, the best way to find out which area letter set(s) JLR were using in 2023 is to look at the press cars loaned out magazines.
You should note that HP is from Hampshire & Dorset on the south coast, KV is Northampton about 30 miles from CV3 (and closest registration area), RW is Reading which is to the west of London, VC is Severn Valley 20 odd miles to the west of Birmingham & WK is Truro in Cornwall away on the south west tip.
Below are images of press & experience cars that have been registered in the Northampton area
