I dunno how it happens. My sales reps (Ruben and Justin) apparently were both out when the car arrived and they claim the sales manager sold the vehicle (at least that's what their story is). They still have my deposit. I have to decide if I want to try to find a 23.5 build that ticks enough boxes, order a MY 24 vehicle, or cancel altogether and get my deposit back.

I'd be finding a good consumer law attorney and suing for consumer fraud and deceptive business practices. I'm not licensed in California, but I think treble damages and attorney fees are available under the statute. So you wouldn't be out of pocket on attorney fees and you could get 3 x your deposit back, plus any other damages you can prove. You could probably even mitigate damages by finding a more expensive car that's immediately available, and sue Pasadena for the cost difference between the car you bought and the one you ordered.
