Was looking to buy new tires from a cheaper-than-dealer shop and have them install.... But was wondering if anyone's had any success in getting any shops to swap out the rods as well? Trying to avoid taking the tires off myself and then putting them back on only to have the shop take them off again
Do you have to take the wheels off to install the lift rods. On my Audi it's just a matter of getting under the vehicle (which looks super easy on a defender) to pop the OEM links off and pop on the new ones. Open to missing something
On my 2020x I have replaced the 1.5 inch lift to OEM without taking the tires off. Front is easy and you do not need to climb under. The rear you need to slide under and it is a little of a pain to do but definitely doable. I raised it to off-road height, opened a door to make sure it would not drop and was done in 30 seconds
I installed my Johnson Rods last week then headed for West Texas for some off roading. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT LT275/60R20.
I just ordered the rods and these same Mickey's.... How are you liking them? Any updates on or off road? I don't see many defenders with them but think they may be the best tires for it! 👊
