No roof rack or tow package on V8?
i own a v8 and tow package does come standard. As others mentioned roof rails are not included. They definitely fit as i have them installed. i won’t be putting much weight on my roof but having the ability to mount some skis or a roof box when needed was worth whatever risk
There is a lot of talk about the roof rails and loads on here but not much about the towing. Someone says the tow package comes standard but that doesn’t show up on the configurator as far as I can see for the V8.
Does the V8 come with a tow hitch as standard? Once again it is not clear on the configurator or I can’t see it. The maximum tow loads are listed the same for the V8 as all other Defenders so towing should therefore not be an issue. It is a bit confusing.
Can any V8 owners confirm what you get thanks.

What crossbars or racks can be fitted without the rails? Any?
We moved from a coil spring 400 with the oem roof rack which was crazy high to a v8 so I’m hoping a lower profile rack will help me park in more parking garages than the 400 could.

dont think any cross bars can be fitted without rails or a rack.
racks that mount directly to the roof with no rails,
front runner
uptop
voyager
plumb- new company from Taiwan. very pricey some other useless products. everything looks over engineered. the Defender roof tapers in the rear. most racks are square and look off in the rear. The oem rack actually tapers.

i like the uptop the best.

Hi all, this is my first post. I recently took delivery of a Defender V8 Carpathian Edition two weeks ago and in the specs, like the rest of the world, the dynamic load limits it to "ZERO" however in the list of available options are the bars and top case, bike rack and ski rack. In the specifications they state that the maximum weight allowed on the roof is 300Kg (over 600 pounds) which indicates that there are no structural problems. As noted above, JLR does not want to get into the hassle of homologating the dynamic use of roof loads but with reasonable driving it should not be a problem to use the rack if desired.
