Default OEM ladder

I just purchased an OEM LR ladder for my 110. The seller doesn't have the key, so a couple of ?'s...

Has anyone had to get a new key and where did you get it done?
Can the ladder be used/unfolded without the key...esp if I have access to remove the key housing before installing.

Thanks for your help

So long as it's not currently locked you won't need a key.

I have never locked it and have no plans to ever lock it. I'm not sure why it even has a lock. Redundant.

Gavin’s right. I never lock mine either. I also think all the keys are the same to all the genuine LR ladders? Or maybe I’m making that up. (???)

Also, mine is getting really hard to fold down lately. Lubricating it didn’t help.

When I bought my pre-owned Trophy edition a couple of years ago the dealer didn't have the key for the ladder. They told me it was basically the same key for all the ladders and ordered a set. It was that simple.

Agree with the above posts.

I too got a second hand Trophy with no keys, the dealer "found" a key when I asked for one at signing.

My ladder has also never been locked, and is starting to get real stiff too. It has tons of Moab dirt stuck in it and needs a good clean.

All Ladder keys are the same and are sold as a set of 2 from Land Rover

The OEM ladder looks great but please be careful whenever you use it. The hinges on the ladder are very weak, and if you plan on using it extensively, check the replacement hinges available at powerful uk.
I agree with all other posts. You will never need the key as there is no point in locking it.

Oh yes, plus one to this. I replaced my hinges with @PowerfulUK ones as soon as they came out.
