There is a way to make the defender remember the last setting by modifying the CCF files ie when you turn start stop off, it remembers this next time you start the car. I have the obd tool that lets you do this.

l've got so used to turning the stop/start off that l do it without even thinking when l start the engine.

It may be easier in a RHD because the switch is just to the left of the shift lever and you can reach it easily as you put your hand on the shift lever to select Drive

Isn’t the centre buttons/dash in LHD just the mirror image of RHD, so the buttons are equally accessible?

Are they? Sorry l didn't realise that was the case.

l would still rather the vehicle remembered that l didn't want to use the stop/start

But our VW was the same, l think (as already suggested) that it's a legal thing so they can claim lower emissions or more mileage.

A few names in here that I recognise Like tooth_dr mentions it can be done using the IID tool from GAP, the tool is in Beta test at the moment but it enables all of the CCF changes that are available (at least it will when it's out of Beta) I've done the Stop/Start mod, enabled Dynamic mode and should have the v8 Alcantara wheel and flappy paddles soon which I intend to enable also

Excellent! Next time I’m at a mall I’ll look for it. Any chance Banana Republic sells one also?

Just the non-pro Bluetooth version. You would want the Pro only if you ran an indy shop.and needed an IIDTool that was not locked to a specific VIN.
