I was told changing your battery to non agm makes it disable the stop start. I haven’t tested it out because getting the battery out is a total freaking nightmare. If you have a dead battery, you have to jump the car, move the pass seat max forward disconnect one battery cable. Move the seat max backward disconnect the other batt cable. Jump start car 3rd time, move seat max forward lift batt cover lift batt out. Just a pita with a dead battery. They made battery access a nightmare and they have a ton of space under hood.

Will somebody please show us the capacitor in real time, not pics of other JLR model capacitors but the new defender mhev capacitor and show us how to disable start stop. I don’t want to wait two years on GAP or Simon at Powerfuluk to come up with something in 2023.

I have had a couple of instances where I come at a red light, engine stop activates, brake hold engages, and I take advantage of the stationary minute to enter an address in the satnav, dial a number, play a text I just got, or whatever on the touchscreen. In so doing I rest my wrist on the shifter and inadvertently push the P button. The stoplight turns green, engine fires up but the car idles and goes nowhere until I figure out I'm in Park.

Remember the auto start will generally not work if it's hot or cold outside and A/C, heater, heated seats, etc are running, so probably nothing to worry about if you live in Minnesota and the system hasn't worked all winter long. 😉 Also, if you don't latch your seatbelt auto start/stop won't work either (neither will ACC, brake hold, and a bunch of other stuff.)

In the Porsche world there's a cat on the forums who sells a little module that saves all of your last center-console button settings. So for instance, on my GT4 there's a button for "Loud *** Exhaust" and one for Sport mode that I always want on, but it was programmed to reset to off at start-up every time. So you pull one side panel off the center console (it just snaps off) and there's a wire with a plastic fastener. You unclip the fastener, clip this aftermarket module in between those two OEM fasteners, and from then on it holds every button setting until YOU change it by pushing it again. Having to pay $200 sucks, but once it's done, it's great not to have to push the buttons every time.

The Porsche GT cars don't have A/S/S, but this module works on regular Porsches to leave A/S/S turned off forever once you push the button.

Does nobody in the LR world make such a thing?

Have you heard anything from your dealer? I’m contemplating wanting to escalate it further if they cannot resolve it.
I am waiting for it to get a little warmer here to take it in and get it looked at. Any resolution or answers to the issue from your dealer?

My auto stop doesn't appear to be working either and I'm loving it. (Also a 2021 P400 with about 1000 miles) Mine seems to accelerate just fine from a stop with plenty of power. If it does start working I'll just push the disable button at every start-up.

My auto-stop doesn’t worth either. P400 with 1200 miles.

I wish I could permanently disable the start/stop but until there is a solution I have been just turning it off each time I start the car. The off button isn't as convenient as some other cars I have driven. But a curious thing has happened in that I start the car, then disable the auto start/stop, or should it be auto stop/start, anyway after a bit of driving it re-enables itself. I thought at first that I just had forgotten to disable it but I tested it this morning on a 45 minute drive. I disabled it when I started the car, made sure to notice when I first came to a stop light that it was disabled and the car kept running. Then about 20 minutes later I was in traffic and the car stopped. I thought "hey I know I disabled that" and I looked down and it was re-enabled without me doing anything. Great.

Unfortunately, technology is taking control over human likes or dislikes.....not having complete control over a vehicle can be dangerous and at the very least, at the end of the day, you are simply not in charge anymore.......
