Default Pilot Assist

Does anyone find they miss pilot assist (namely lane centering) functions? I swore I wouldn’t get another car without it because of how much more enjoyable long trips are but it’s the only thing holding me back. Do other LR products have it?

JLR has it hidden in the menus...google JLR cruise assist.

I don’t know if it’s turned on on defenders but it’s available on velars.

I suspect that this feature might be enabled via SOTA at some point the future in vehicles with adaptive cruise control -- there is an indicator light in the gauge cluster to indicate its use. I haven't seen this icon come on when the lane assist feature does corrective input, which leads me to this conclusion. I do like lane centering for night driving on relatively empty highways in conjunction with adaptive cruise control -- helps pass the miles very comfortably.

Yes, I miss it a lot. Still love the Defender, but long highway drives suck and lane centering on my old car made it so much more bearable.

The new defenders have adaptive cruise listed as an option. Does that control steering, in addition to speed and distance from the car in front? We have a first edition defender and definitely miss those features. My wife a 2020 RR SVR and those features work great on her car. Hoping the new defenders will have it.

Defender adaptive cruise control does not currently have lane centering. It has lane keeping assist... which does not allow you to take your hands of the wheel for a few seconds. You can do that (though manufacturers tell you not to) in vehicles with lane centering. The lane keeping assist keeps you at out of a ditch or from blatantly crossing a lane but it's much less active and precise than centering.

Thanks for that info. That’s what I thought. I was thinking about getting a 2022 model to get the adaptive cruise, but going to pass now.
