Pivi update 4.2.1
No radio sound on the way to the supermarket after the 4.2.1 update on our 2021. After sitting while we were shopping, the sound was back for our ride home. Love the way these vehicles have a personality.
I installed 4.2.1 Wednesday night when I was out at the bars with a group of friends. Got back to my car to go home and it struggled to unlock using the keyless entry. I unlocked with the key fob and all was fine. I haven't had any problems with the keyless entry since, and was probably not related to the software update. Interesting point about the rear differential. I'll pay more attention to see if mine behaves differently.
Speaking of software updates, I had an appointment to test drive the new Volvo EX90 on Saturday, because one of my best friends who happens to work at the Porsche/Maserati/Alfa Romeo/Volvo dealer that I bought my Macan from told me the EX90 is actually really good, and I should come by to test drive it. And my friend has a complete and utter hatred for the Volvo brand. I decided to go, because I enjoy testing out the newest cars. I made it to my appointment only to find out the vehicle was bricked after a software update performed right before I got there. The car wouldn't go into reverse, neutral or drive, and it wouldn't shut off when you exit the vehicle like its supposed to. They had to let the car sit there until it dies before they can fix it.
It won't be too long until techs will need to have a computer science degree so they can work on all these new software-defined EVs. Pure ridiculousness.

Just updated my 2023 D90 P300 w/ Meridian to Pivi v 4.2.1 this weekend and now it doesn't launch Carplay at all (iPhone 15 Pro running 18.1.1). I've tried forgetting, power cycling, and re-pairing w/ no luck. Any pro-tips for other things to try?
2020 Defender here. i got the engine malfunction light on the dash after the update, but i can’t pinpoint exactly when.
im staying hopeful before i have to call the dealer.
almost 73K miles on her too…..next maintenance in like 11k

To cindyrovers point, i wont update pivi. I’ve got a 24 Defender and it came with 4.1.1.1 and it works 98% of the time just fine. No reason to update, especially after seeing multiple threads over time from members who updated and ended up with more/worse problems.
It’s not a LR thing, all manufacturers seem to have poorly coded software for their info tainment systems and it’s hit and miss on whether the next update is worth the risk.

I also paid attention to my rear differential. It behaved exactly like it did before the update, so nothing new here.
I found after the update that I was not logged into my InControl account, although this was a surprise to me, as I never logged out. Had issues with CarPlay also, so logged back, deleted my iPhone in devices, repaired and all is good, currently. It has been fluky, as attested to in this forum by others. Hey JLR, get back to the drawing board and get this fixed for good.
Easy to fix, delete your phone profile, and set it up as a new one.
Got it working! If anyone else is having issues with Carplay pairing/connecting/loading after the update, try wiping your user data from Pivi. IIRC it asked me to confirm the action then it looked like it wasn't doing anything for 30 seconds or so and the screen went black for a bit until the LR logo popped up and everything paired normally from there.
