Rattle Noise from Right Rear Window Area 2024 Defender 90
Hi everyone,
I own a 2024 Land Rover Defender 90, and Ive been experiencing an annoying rattling noise coming from the trim area around the right rear window. The sound becomes noticeable especially on uneven roads or when the vehicle vibrates slightly.
Has anyone dealt with a similar issue or found a solution?
Ive attached photos and a video to clearly show where the noise is coming from, as it has become very frustrating.
Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.
??? Must not be a common problem ??? Best option would be to have your dealer listen to it and resolve under warranty. Then come back and update your thread with a resolution.

Finding causes of rattles and buzzing is a never-ending journey into infuriation. I chase these things constantly on both the Defender and the Porsche. I've given up for the most part on the Hummer (Although I just did buy some 3M thinsulate to stuff behind the gauge cluster).
The best bet is to get someone to ride with you and try to pin point the exact location of the noise - then start going to that location and using common sense and deduction to try and isolate the source further. Sounds bounce around in the cabin so what may sound like a noise coming from the rear passenger area might actually be coming from the rear hatch... until you get a secondary set of ears in there to look for it - you'll be just chasing your tail. If you want to go all out, you can pickup a set of Steelman ChassisEars which are little microphone clips that you can put all over the car and by the process of elimination and relocation - you can figure out where the source is coming from.
Once you've found the source - fixing it should be straight forwards. If you have to take off the interior trim, there are Youtube videos out there that tell you how. Getting an interior trim toolkit off of amazon really helps in these cases (if you don't already have one).
That being said, you have a '24. Next time you go get a service done, mention it to the service advisor and say you want it fixed before you pickup your truck. Thats the easy button.
My money is on a loose rear shock. Deformation of the air suspension shock in its mount. Rattle over bumps. Quick test.
1. Drive over small bumps like cat's eyes in middle of road, noting the extent of rattle
2. Put car in off-road heaight
3. Repeat step 1.
4. Does the rattle reduce? If yes it's the rear shock that's the problem.
Under that panel there are 3 or 4 clips holding it to the body, they tend to move up a little.
So first try to massage that panel to the correct position and use some downforce to try that they clip in the right way.
I had a rattle I couldn’t trace on my 2025 P400 110. It turned out to be the roof sunshade, and setting it to just before fully open stopped the rattle.
