Default Rear door inner trim question - one is not like the other

Rear door inner trim question

Was cleaning my '23 110 and came across this puzzle. The driver side (US) rear door trim seems to have some adhesive tape applied but not fully applied. See the pic. It looks like automovtive trim tape but one side still have the red peel off tape attached. I then when to check the passenger side rear door and to my surprise there no adhesive tape of any kind!

Any thoughts ? I've own the truck from new.

Driver side:

It may have been added by the dealer to address a sticky rear door trim prior to the sale. I am purely guessing here and I would ask the dealership where you bought it from.

That’s it. This was the fix suggested fix to the left rear door which got sticky when trying to open it. The rubber seal was catching on the edge of the signature panel. This tape shims out the seal lip and purportedly eliminates the “sticking”

Yep, as others have said, this was the official fix for the sticking door seals. Did you have that problem and did you take it in to have it fixed? Odd that that the fix was only applied to one door.

Sweet 987 Boxster, btw!

Strangely enough, the problem only affects the left rear door, so there would be no need to apply it to the right rear door. ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’.
