I have the keys now . A mechanic used inflatable pads and a rod to get into the car.

Thanks for all the useful information.

Glad to hear that the lockout kit worked, that takes away any trepidations of causing damage using it. And right after reading the comment about JLR disabling the Unlock feature in the app, I went outside and tried mine every which way, Lock, Unlock, iPhone, Apple Watch and it works like a charm. Was this reported disabling a result of a software update that I haven’t come across yet? I’m on 4.1.5 and have not heard of any changes to the app. Unless this only applies to markets non-US. Will be awaiting more info and other owners experiences.

My app unlock also still works. Is it different by region? I’m in the US.

JLR UK told me this. They disabled it for security presumably UK users....

We used them for freeing a child locked in a hot car when time was of the essence. Could we just break the window with a Halligan bar? Sure, but why cause damage and incur cost to the already distressed parent. As a Training Officer, once we became aware of the ease of use, we put them on all our rigs. Most mobile locksmiths should have one. After placing a plastic wedge between the trailing edge of the door and the B-pillar and opening a small gap, enough to place the inflatable bladder, it was inflated just enough to insert the rod, which after eyeballing the distance and angle to reach the door unlock button, and placing the requisite bend to accomplish this, or occasionally grabbing the door handle with the bend or hook formed in the rod, the door was open in less than a minute. With no damage. I suggest you call around and locate the proper locksmith who can perform this for you.

it worked

Now that makes sense. It seems there are regulations/laws in EU about Approach unlock/lock, fog lights, DRL’s and various other features that are not affected in the North American market. Had me worried at first, I love the remote climate control and use it frequently, and the Journeys feature is a great tool for monitoring MPG and just being able to see a history of where you went and when. Has helped me a few times when I needed to retrace my steps for when I visited a store or restaurant, etc. and can look back at my trip history for those details.

@WTFChuck The UK is not in the EU and therefore EU regulations don’t apply.

Well yes for the nationalists, but technically JLR and many other British companies are still using EU regulation for their product specs in many ways -- because it's easier to have one product, instead of differentiate between UK and EU product. That's why you are getting the speed limiter warning nonsense in your British spec cars.

That is definitely not the case for JLR. There are many differences in the specs. Starting with the position of the steering wheel…

Gotcha. What I meant to imply/say was all markets outside of the North American market, I wasn’t specific enough. In Porsche-speak, my other vehicle, they just call anything NOT North America, RoW, for REST OF WORLD, encompassing all other markets. I stand corrected.

No worries. I wasnt‘t trying to be a smart ***.
I just mentioned it as in some EU countries (Germany for example) the remote unlock still works fine.
