Sorry yeah. easy mistake to make W.Aus and WAshington. I've been to Townsville a couple of times. Fun place but Cairns is my first love. I used to have a little 2 door Holden Jackaroo. Never did much wheeling when I was there. Just a bit of dirt between Cairns and Cooktown. Fun little rig.

I just replaced by spark plugs on my P300 2024 110 Defender S 4 cylinder. I managed the task without removing anything significant -- just barely did I manage it.

It was a devilish job and was only possible because of a simpler overall design P300 vs. P400, very small hands, and very, very slow activity level. I have absolutely no doubt that the dealer would have removed all the items you did for your P400. That would be the only way to change the plugs reliably in an every day fashion.

By, the way, I paid to have the 2013 LR4 plugs changed by the dealer last month. Lordy, it was a LONG and expensive task -- I am so happy I turned that over to JLR. I took one look and opted out of going on that adventure.

Enjoy !

Yes. With the extra 2 cylinders on the I6, the plugs go right up against the firewall, under the cowl, brace, bulkhead and intercooler. P300 would be a lot more user friendly, although my guess is it's still a challenging job.

One more reason to opt for the P300 over the P400.

What's your mileage now btw?

My next jobs will be front diff drain and fill
Transmission drain +fill x2 or x3

The former is supposedly a lifetime fill.
The latter I'd need to check in the manual.

68k miles or so. All is going well. Just put on a new set of Cooper AT tires. Very happy so far. -- was off-road yesterday in 6 inches in snow up a 25 degree road incline and all was ideal

Would you say it is necessary to remove the wiper arms? I dont have a puller and hate to order one just to change the plugs on my D110 P400.

Thanks for posting this!!! Gonna be super helpful.

Pay $ 12.- for a puller which last lifetime or go to a dealer.

You also have to buy a very small 16mm socket and maybe some weird extensions, but you could also go to a dealer.

Yes. 100% needed to remove the cowl which you have to remove to get the secondary bulkhead off and get to the intercooler. No way around it. Those plugs are very far back in there.
Wiper puller works great. Cheap and a a good little tool to have in the arsenal.

Yes 100% required to pull the arms to do this.
I had much better luck with this puller, built really well and popped both of mine off in under a minute after fighting with another for a half hour and bending it all up. This one is awesome.

Thumbs up Great Guide!

Thanks for writing this up. I found it very helpful. The photos were the best part

One thing to note that short hose that you had a hard time disconnecting from the charge air cooler, has a spring like clip on the plastic 90º elbow just below it. I was able to use a flat head to pop the spring clip out allowing the charge air cooler to rotate upwards. No need to fight it off or on

Good to know. There are two hoses that are crazy difficult. One on each side. I’m sure there is a better way to do it than I figured out.

I’m glad the post was of some use to you.
