I messaged the seller. He indicated that the red and green wires are indeed the ones that control the surround light. He did caution to check the light function before snipping them, "because the light is embedded in the circuit board. If one of the wires is cut off, it may affect its use." I read that to mean that snipping the wires may hamper the function of the light. I am guessing, that he says that because he has likely not tested all of the light functions with the wires cut.

"trouble in paradise" with my taillights yesterday. Either I have a bad left rear genuine LR tailamp, or maybe an issue related to these lamps' wiring harness so figured I'd post here.

Last night I noticed as I approached car from the rear, that when I unlocked the doors, when the taillamp went on, it flickered. (The entire left side taillamp, all lights flickered a few times). Then the internal "brake lamp" portions lit up dimly, and flickered too. Right side fine. Left side basically freaked out. After a couple lock and unlock cycles it stopped doing it but ... definite issue showing itself.

Only things I could think are:
1) Bad LR taillamp (I have the X model w/ grey lamps that were replaced in 2022 for the recall btw so in theory the tail lamps are a year old ish.
2) The cut and sealed silicone wires on my reverse lamp harness are problematic somehow (not sure how though)
3) I got a car wash yesterday maybe water has affected or damaged something back there.

Wish they would just make a hitch mount light. Have one in my Jeep & it’s just plug & play, Highly affective. No plastic clips to deal with, that’s actually what’s stopping me from ordering a pair.

I read somewhere on the forum that these are replacement clips. Bought them, but haven't yet tried them, so your mileage may vary.

Amazon Amazon

Not a great development. Is it still giving you issues? Now thinking of not cutting any of the wires, given the hesitation that the vendor has expressed, coupled with your experience with flickering lights.

Did you ever figure this out? The reverse lights are so terrible that aftermarket lights are basically a necessity, but I don't want to jump down a rabbit hole of potential electrical problems in a brand new LR

Haven't figured it out, but the car hasn't done it since. So -- hanging tight. No issues at present!
