The frontrunner just stands up so high. Visually it’s distracting it’s so high. Oem is same. Wish frontrunner offered their new low profile for the defender. Or arb base rack. Both are much lower. Safer has a cool rack but you have to want all that metal protruding over the sides like an old safari rack. Too much for me. I still like my voyager, but leave it off unless doing a trip to minimize noise and impact on mpg.
For anyone considering cross bars, learn from my mistake. I got the genuine LR part (VPLER0178), and it is pretty limiting: The bars are fixed length (a shorter one and a longer one) which fit at the notches in the roof rails, but don't really fit anywhere else (as the roof rails are not parallel). This means you cannot space them really far apart if you need to. The Thule option consisting of a mounting Kit, Podia, and Wingbar
allows the bars to be placed anywhere, as their length is adjustable.
