I put this in another thread about 4.4.0 but: I do not understand by my 2020 110 X says it installed 4.0.0 last when I was running 4.4.0 since February.
This is a new one... Even if they found out an incompatibility with my model with 4.4.0, why wouldn’t it just roll back to 4.3.0 ?
Here’s my quite controversial and probably bogus theory. Could this have something to do with DC-DC converters? There were zero failures that I remember in 2023, which is when 4.0.0 came out. I have had no DC to DC converter issue on mine btw. A few have surmised on here that recent software updates are what has caused the DC-DC converter issues to pop up this year/late last year. Well here you go, this supports that theory?
Initially I did think it was just wrong copy in the screen, and I was getting 4.4.1 and the metadata or paragraph it showed was wrong.
And here is where it gets really weird.
4.4.0 added AI -- the “advanced AI” selector on/off toggles under voice (Which I could give a rats *** about). My software screen clearly shows 4.0.0 -- well before AI was added. Yet the AI button is still there. Weird.
I can still see the status of the sunroof (open or closed) in the Incontrol app on my phone. This was added 4.3.0.
I did see an improvement on my reversing camera at night with 4.3.0’s release awhile back “Improved Reversing Camera Visibility: A major feature of the 4.3.0 release was a software upgrade to the reversing camera, “ -- I might be insane, but I thin it’s gone back to the less crisp pre 4.3 reverse camera. I’ve tried to find photo of it on my phone because I”m sure I took a picture of it awhile back. Last night I backed out and thought, this camera looks like garbage again and it’s dim/dark (I have extra reversing lights added too). I think this changed.
So I’m confused. Clearly every module didn’t get the downgrade but the car thinks it’s on 4.0.0 now and shows installed 2/28/26. Before, my screen said 4.4.0.
Following as this is indeed weird. Was this an automatic update, i.e., it did not ask you to run the update process and all of a sudden showed up with a different version? I thought the updates had to be initiated by us: car tells you there is an update available and asks if you want to proceed with it. IIRC that is how I have always updated mine.
Well. I screwed up. It was not automatic. It popped up the notification saying “software upgrade is downloaded, agree to install or schedule”. I cancelled out of it a few days in a row -- Then I left my partner in the car with the dog while I did something and .. well, let’s just say someone was being helpful. Hit agree. To get past the screen.
After the 4.3.0 software my PIVI screen brightness would very noticeably increase at night when the the parking camera screen was activated. When going back to CarPlay/regular PIVI menus the screen would dim back down after 2-3 seconds.
At night, activate the parking camera screen. Then switch back to the regular menus like navigation or audio. Do you notice the screen brightens up with parking camera and then dims after you get out of parking cams? If not, I don't think you are crazy and you've lost your reverse camera improvement.
