Default Spacers

i have a set of aftermarket custom forged wheels in my v8 22x10 et 30. i went square to be able to rotate the wheels but i wished the rear was a little more aggressive with fitment.

thinking to add a small spacer in the back say a 10-15mm to push the rears out a little.

i see with the larger 25-30mm spacers they are bolted to the hub and wheels bolted to spacer. hoping to avoid that

does anyone know what the size limit of the spacer before having to go to the bolt on hub option.

The stud lenght is 27mm or 28mm. I think you can test it how much 'meat' or windings there remain.

( I have 22mm front and 25mm rear, did have to shave the studs 3/5 mm for fitting my steelies, still no problem whitout the spacers )

be mindful of using spacers. I know that there is not a ton of extra threads for thread engagement if you want such a thin spacer. otherwise the thicker ones use their own studs and lug nuts. and as mentioned above, can require cutting the factory studs shorter so they do not interfere with the wheels. Also note that spacers are not legal in some states. (not that they are policing them) but they do offer a possible safety issue especially if not installed properly and re-torqued periodically. Lastly, some spacers alloy spacers like H&R, specifically say not to use them with steel wheels. The nature of how steel wheels have a very thin steel surface where the lug nuts are ,there is a tendency of the steel to deflect into the hub surface when tightening. the aluminum can distort around the studs. Alloy wheels have a much thicker surface at the lug hole, so this is a non issue for them. Granted, a lot of people run them with steel wheels and say there are no issues, so maybe the risk is small. just my 2c

I bought H&R 20mm for the fronts and they didn't clear the factory studs and I wasn't willing to have them shortened to fit. The last time I had a shop do that, 4 of the 5 studs broke and I wasn't aware until the 4th one snapped and my rear wheel almost came off going around a corner. Scary stuff. The 25mm fit fine for the rears.

this is good to know. i was going to order 20mm today but it might be too much.

as mentioned i already have aftermarket wheels and only need maybe 15mm to push them out to my liking

Bumping this thread. I'd really like to see what spacers are being used on the factory optional 22" wheels to flush it out ab it more to the body (especially in the rear).

I'm used to 15-25mm spacers on cars. 30mm spacers seems huge to me.

Which factory wheels do you have though? I understand that each has a different depth of pocket between the studs. The 22' seem to have the deepest?

bought 20mm from lucky 8 and they're perfect for rear but I had some rubbing on fronts... I'm running plus size tires from factory specs on the 20's... seems like 20mm spacers on read and maybe 10 or 15 fronts would be ideal.

did you end up going with 10 or 15mm spacers? If yes did they fit without having to shave off the original studs?
