Steering Wheel Heating Element
Yep, I got a confirmation from my parts guy a few weeks ago that they did change the leather that they use on the steering wheel. I'm sure the grainer leather will hold up better than the previous Windsor leather steering wheel, and I'd rather have something a little more durable than something that is softer and more prone to damage. I'm not complaining.
It was done recently, but it appears that only replacement steering wheels are made with the different leather, as every brand new Defender I looked at that was on the lot still had the Windsor leather steering wheel. Makes no sense to me.
I’m not worried about it going out again. I’ve had many cars with heated steering wheels and this is the only car where it went bad. I’m sure that my replacement will not have an issue.
I have a used heated steering wheel clockspring off of a 2021 p400 defender if anyone wants to buy it off me. 500 bucks is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying new.

Oh haha I'm just wondering for my own knowledge. I'm not too worried about mine as I live in Australia, and I rarely ever need the steering wheel heater. Only maybe if I park outside overnight in winter.
