Default Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected

2023 P400, got the battery replaced about a year ago, then within the last 4 months was getting low battery warning and a passenger airbag fault. Fast forward yesterday and I get the Stop Safely Electrical Fault Detected alert in the dash and ever since its been dead in my driveway, wont even take a jump.

Anyone else had this happen or know what the cause/fix is?

Also any idea how to get it started? Rather drive it in than tow it to the dealership tomorrow.

Your Defender has a 48-v battery. That may be the cause.

My experience with pass vehicles have showed me that installing a permanent battery charger that I plug-in overnight 3-4 nights a week have clearly steered me clear of any battery related glitches. There are so many systems staying alive even while parked, this is just logical to me. One of the first things I did when I got the Defender was install one and never had a problem.

It sounds to me like the dreaded DC-DC converter failure, especially as the truck is 'bricked' and won't even accept a jump. A number of posts across the forums on this. Let us know how you get on.

Agreed: DC-DC converter issue which happened to me. Covered by warranty even though i was out of the 4x50 period for US vehicles.

How long did the repair take? Was the part back ordered?

Can dealer preemptively replace the 48V battery or do you want until it’s bricked before doing the repair.

Hey sorry for the wait, I ended up getting the vehicle back within 3 days. The paperwork says they replaced the battery, airbag, and 1 433123464 Converter, -1 LR104511 Core return. Are either of those the DC/DC converter? Also says "Found EPICD had internal failure. Removed and replaced as needed. Configured new module and cleared DTC."

My wife picked the vehicle up so i didn't get a chance to talk to them but I recall her saying they said they replaced the dc/dc converter.

Yes - the part ending 464 is the DC to DC converter which was replaced. That's the EPICD failure (electric power inverter converter)

The part ending 511 (core return) is the standard 12V battery. The DC converter issue totally drains the 12v battery so that was replaced as they often don't come back to life well once totally drained.

Hopefully you are all set!
