Things I wish the Defender had.
I love the defender, but there are some small things I wish that JLR did. Let me know if there's anything you would want to see.
- I'd like a button on the tailgate to lock the vehicle, like the other door handles. There are times when done driving and I need to get something out of the trunk, then I want to lock it and have to go to one of the handles or the FOB. It would be nice to just click the button on the back door handle.
- I'd like to have a door over the space above the glove box, so it would be a second compartment for stuff. I know that the older defenders had this and it's tradition, but i hate clutter and would like to see something similar to the sports - a compartment that we can store items, without having to see them.
- I shouldn't have to buy a piece of molded plastic to get a storage tray in the center console - Land Rover should design that area better so it has the tray there and we can access the storage underneath better. Maybe it's a door that flips up, like the center console...but, it's annoying to try and reach items that are stuck under in that space under the cup holders.

Drives me mad, the big bottles shifting from side to side.
Was hoping Tim from Defender3D did came up with a solution.
Add me to the list of people who wished they ordered the tow package or at least got a tow hitch. May have to get one soon...I'll also be ordering some backup lights from PowerfulUK, stock ones are poor at best and dangerous at worst.

The only thing I can think of that would be a welcome feature are grab handle on the A-Pillars. I guess it's something I found nice to have, coming from the Jeep world. It makes it much easier and faster to get in and out when on uneven terrain (or if you're short). The access height feature is nice but only helps so much.
Features I wish weren't in the Defender is the fake engine sounds being piped in via the speakers. Not a big deal but I would rather due without it. Also, the throttle has a bit too much exponential in the throttle curve than I would like. Also not a big deal but I would prefer a little less, a bit closer to linear would be my personal preference.

I have the P400. At least it's not obnoxiously fake like some that I've heard from other brands.
A proper light switch with click stop positions rather than the un-intuitive "suggestion" light switch that the vehicle often ignores.
l turn off the headlights because they come on every time l drive under a tree. Next tree, they're back on. Driver in front stops to ask why l am flashing my lights.
I want side lights only, no can do, headlights come on. Try to turn off and sidelights disappear as well.
The switch makes no sense. The "off" position only works for ten seconds.

For the first point, how do you lock the vehicle when you’re done driving? I ask because I’m wondering if you’ve tried locking the vehicle when you get out of the drivers seat, then you can unlock the rear tailgate only by clicking the handle button, then when you close the tailgate it locks itself again.
