Thumping Sound/Diff. Campaign?
I think you guys are over reacting. The clunk in and of itself does not mean the diff has failed. It’s just a characteristic of the electronic differential, like it or not..
My 2012 LR4 with the electronic diff clunked
My 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged with locking diff clunked bigtime
My 2012 RRS SC clunked
My 2014 L494 Range Rover Sport V8 Dynamic with a similar diff did this
2017 SVR clunked madly from new back there
For about half of those, they got fluid changes or software updates on the diff. Nothing ever changed. In fact on the 2014 I got in a spat with a dealer because they charged me for the fluid flush under warranty to resolve a TSB on the very issue.
The only rear diff (locking) I’ve ever had go back was a 2005 LR3 with that stupid coating inside the rear diff that would flake off and contaminate the fluid. Mine went bad before they knew about it and issued the TSB.

Just to confirm, you’re saying you got a new differential from JLR under warranty and the new one clunks too, right?
As a follow up: my dealership filled the diff with non-approved ("BG") oil. After discussing with my SA and refilling with the right LR oil the diff is mostly quiet.
