I have the Falken Wildpeak AT4W's and totally agree with you. After 15K miles they are getting louder. Still great in heavy rain but I will probably move onto a less aggressive tread pattern and less noise. That Vredestein Pinza AT mentioned above is on my radar.

They do get noticeably louder, and mine in the rain are a lot worse than they were when new. The other night I took a corner in the rain about 10 mph faster than the speed limit and it lost grip and I started understeering towards a sidewalk, and luckily it found grip again before I hit the curb. I've taken that turn at that speed in the same conditions and it never lost grip like that. Will definitely need new tires early next year at the latest.

After lots of research, I am looking at Nitto RG vs. Toyo ATiii primarily, BFG KO2 still in the running.

Looks like ATiii has better wet road capability, maybe better wear/durability.

However, seems they are noisier. Any recommendations on the above?

I absolutely LOVE the AT III. I don’t think they are loud at all, in fact I find them VERY quiet and super comfortable. The Nitto’s have always seemed louder to me as do the BFG’s. Just my $0.02.

Dumb question. When I search for KO2/KO3/ATIII's by vehicle from Costco, Discount Tire these brands don't show. I've got my first LR on order with standard tires but I want to get an off road tires next. Would I need spacer for these other tires to fit?

These tires aren't available in OEM sizes. The OEM 19" and 20" tires are exclusive tires only for the Defender, hence why every tire in this size has "LR" or "JLR" on the sidewall. If you're on 20" wheels, you'll have to go slightly bigger to 265/60R20. If you search this size, you will see plenty of options. This size will fit without issues, but the clearance between the tire and the knuckle is very tight. Here is a picture of my 265/60R20 Falken Wildpeaks on my Defender with air suspension. Coil-sprung cars have a little more clearance than air. The maximum size tire you can fit on a Defender without adding lift rods or shaving fender lining is 32.6." There is no rubbing at any suspension height on tires less than 32.6" in diameter.

Toyo makes a great tire. On my old 9000lbs truck, I drove my Toyos over what amounts to a bed of punji sticks to extract a moose from the woods and they drove over them for about 100 yards without a single puncture.

Thank you so much. This helps a lot, I built mine with 20". I wanted 19" to give me extra sidewall but almost everyone on here said it was a pain to find tire sizes. I don't want anything to rub, I'll stick to the size you gave.

Well for an update… I’d pretty much settled on Toyo AT3 due to wet road performance and noise. Driving home from work today passed my Jeep buddy with his 35 inch KO2 tires and could clearly hear the road noise in my D130. Did a bit more research on other forums/comparison sites and found a bunch of people who said the Toyos were louder than KO2! Can anyone comment on that? My Nitto Ridge Grapplers are not that loud, maybe I should stick with them?
