Default Touchscreen Recall

I took the Defender in for 21K service today, and they informed me it also needed recall work for the touchscreen. I hadn’t received notice yet from LR about the recall but was pleased to see what it was regarding.

I haven’t had major issues with the screen, but it has gone completely blank once every few months - typically when running errands with a lot of frequent stops, and occasionally from a cold start.

Dealer note below. Will report back!

RECALL N 972 TOUCH SCREEN BLANK ON START UP PERFORMED RECALL N972 AND UPDATED IDMA AND ICC

There we go - I guess they caught me early. Makes sense about addressing the safety risk.

It is interesting that the center screen has additional software that is different than the PIVI software. Or rather software that can’t be updated by an over the air PIVI software update. If anyone gets this recall performed take note of your PIVI software version beforehand and see if it changes to something new.

it's module firmware. I had my dashboard reflashed to prevent dimming, but it didn't help.
PIVI is QNX based software the controls all these modules.

Wow, cool. About time. Yes I often did wonder about the rear view camera requirements when it wasn't working.

Good call - I didn’t get a chance to check which software version I was running before, but even after the recall service, it’s showing my software as 4.2.1 with an installation date of Nov 24 (recall was performed Feb 25). Not sure if that means I’m already running the latest software - but I had a blackout happen in Jan 25, so hopefully the recall work still did something beyond that last update in November.
