Trailer hitch reprogramming
I am about to install a trailer hitch in my 2010 110. I bought the whole kit, with wiring harness, lower bumper panel, module etc.
I understand that once installed, I need to bring the truck to the dealer for reprogramming.
What is the purpose of this process?
thanks

What year is your 110? A 2010 110 will not need any reprogramming (car configuration file editing in LR speak) as there are virtually no CCF parameters to change. And you're in the wrong forum. If you're talking about a 2020 Defender, you can use a GAP Diagnostic IIDTool BT G4and do it yourself.

Well the installation is complete. I have some questions about the necessary dealer programming.
As it stands right now, the trailer lights do not work. Is that because it needs to be programmed? Or do I have another issue?
Would a Gap tool G4 allow me to do the programming myself? Is that tool user friendly? I’m great with wrenches, not so great with computers.
my local dealer quoted $325. to do the programing. The troubling part is that the service adviser was unaware that this was a necessary step, he didn’t sound too reassuring that he knew what the hell he was talking about. So I’m hesitant.
So for that kind of money, I’m half way $$$. to investing in a Gap tool G4 if that would allow me to do it myself, but I’m not computer savvy.
Open to any thoughts on this. Thanks

Just buy the IIDTool G4, they do also hold their value for 70%
