Turbocharger Coolant Leak

Sounds good. After ordering the parts I realized I can just replace the O-Rings. So I'll have two in the next couple of days. Should make repair also easier. Perhaps not. If it looks good, I can return the parts. $30 as opposed to $161.

For those who've done this, did you do a partial coolant drain first or just go in. I was think as I'll be taking off the front armor, I can drain the radiator easily enough. Save me getting too messy. @redrover75

$30 for the O-rings? They are $3 each at the local dealer. 🙂

You're probably right. I wanted to get OEM and this was the price including tax and expedited shipping from landleaping. $26 or so. The o-rings are $7 each on the website.

I wasn't sure on the specificity of the O-ring size, material etc for such a high heat area. So went OEM. Generic are probably available in any auto store by the bag but I'm very ignorant of most car stuff.

I figured. The $3 price is at my local LR dealer so they are the genuine ones. My rule of thumb is anything that is under free shipping threshold or I want urgently I call my local LR dealer to see of they have in-stock at a reasonable price (or can have it within 24 hrs). Otherwise, landleaping it is.

I just took off the coolant cap, crimped the lines before the clamps to replace the pipes and only got minimal leakage from what was in the lines and turbo at that point. I ended up replacing my reservoir also because the sensor had started to leak.

I’ve since sold my p400 X and got a ‘24 v8.
miss the p400, but like the v8 just as much. V8 is still new feeling, had the x for 2 years.

Anytime I call my local dealer for a part I get the runaround. "What's a good email, give us your phone number" etc. Nope, I just want to know if you have part X and if so how much. It's impossibly annoying. In less time, I can order from landleaping and have it to my door in days. All smoke and mirrors from my local crowd. Everything is a special order item (eg cabin air filter at 3 times the price with a lead time of 3 weeks lol). They're just useless.

Regarding crimping the lines @Skyfall what do you use for that? Is there a risk of cutting the lines with the crimping device? That seems like a great approach.

I have crimp pliers similar to this below. I’ve used them for probably 20 years now, on my own stuff, when working at a Land Rover dealer, Land Rover independent, and on my own stuff again since. Never had an issue with cutting or damaging the rubber. It just squeezes the rubber together and pinches off fluid leaking.

I picked up a similar set of 3. Hopefully the two larger ones will do the job. Maybe I can get it fixed this weekend and put a halt to "what is this orange puddle" texts from t'other half. Tried explaining to her how to check the coolant levels (all good btw): No dice. The hood-popping wasn't happening
